Choosing the right grant program to fund the appropriate endeavor is an extremely important aspect of the government grant process.With so many grant programs available it can make the choice of finding one to focus on very difficult.  Applying for popular grants may mean increased competition which can decrease your chances of receiving money.  If you apply for a grant program that you do not know enough about their is a risk of having your application rejected.

The key to a successful application is choosing a program that is not too popular allowing your application to succeed.  One area of grants that is sometimes overlooked by many grant seekers is that of emerging technologies.  Lately the most promising area generating the most new funding is green technologies. By focusing on green technologies and developing environmentally friendly ideas you can increase your chances to receive government money to get your idea developed.

Green technologies are new products or innovations that benefit the environment.  These technologies generally include environmentally friendly ways to generate power including solar or wind; advancements to make existing technologies more efficient; programs or community initiatives aimed at reducing negative impact on the environment including community recycle and reuse programs.

Green technologies vary significantly in scope and function, some target local communities and others are aimed at coordinating or improving environmental efforts at state or even national levels.  The unifying factor is that they all help the environment.

Many experts believe that the global environmental situation is a critical concern, citing global warming as evidence of man’s impact on nature.  Whatever may be happening to the world environment and climate the government is making significant amounts of money available to study the situation  and to develop solutions to the issues we encounter.  This money is being disbursed in the form of grants to aid in the development of new products, studies to better understand the environment, and social programs aimed at education and community outreach.
