The title to this article may shock you, coming from a guy that sells trading education, but I’ve been at this a good long while now and I don’t know it all. I do know some ways to make money trading ETFs; and I know some ways to lose money trading. One sure way to lose is to skip from strategy to strategy, never staying long enough to master one. From my experience trend following is the one to master.

By focusing on discovering, studying, pursuing and dominating a trading method that will preserve your economy, and maintain your personal equilibrium, you are a winner. If you waste your personal economy, and physical and intellectual energies, you are a loser. Determine your trading method and stay with it.

When you start specializing, you gain massive clarity and focus. This clarity provides tremendous confidence as you catch the trends on the way up and short them on the way down. My system has the potential to make money no matter which way the market moves.

The biggest cause for price move in stock prices can be boiled down to movement in its sector. Contemplating individual stocks may make the whole process seem overwhelming, however when you look at the bigger picture of sectors and trends, it is easier to focus your energies. All the publicly traded stocks and myriad Mutual Funds and ETFs can be divided in to 46 sectors and a couple of indexes.

This one shift will save you hundreds of hours of research and market watching each year. My advanced students only watch 20-40 ETFs, but you can still make great gains only trading a few ETFs.

By specializing you will sharpen your views and intensity. This will lend you the confidence needed to acquire rising stock and short-sell when the stocks are dropping.

Where is it you want to put your efforts? You must answer this question and get your trade techniques down so that you will be making decisions that are not subject to your emotions.
